Ich las verschiedenste Reportagen, Essays und Bücher, immer von den westlichen Medien. Als ich 2007 ins Flugzeug nach Peking stieg war ich vorbereitet mit einem rebellischen Kriegerspirit und meinen Vorurteilen, die ich mir außer aus meiner Lektüre aus dem Flair von Chinarestaurants und Ein-Euro-China-Shops geformt hatte. Ich war überzeugt eine wilde ich-zeige-den-finger-auf- Doku filmen würde, über ein Leben zwischen Fakekultur und Kinderarbeit, zwischen Ignoranz und Unfähigkeit, genährt von einem furchtbaren politischen System… bla bla bla.

Gott sei Dank krachte mein Filmemacherego mit der Realität zusammen und ich lernte Menschen kennen, die mir die Kehrseite dieser dreckigen Münze zeigten, die glänzte und auf der ich echte Menschlichkeit fand. Der Fokus dieses Films fand eine 180 Grad Wende.

The Red Face soll ein Film sein, der die Gegensätze lobpreist, Verurteilung in Verständnis umkehrt; ich glaube das braucht die Welt eher, für ein besseres Morgen in unserem globalen Dorf.

We encourage you to send us your video footage which we would like to incorporate possibly into this experimental documentary project, in order to make it as objective as possible. 

Any interview, statement, landscape or city pictures, any videographed document of contemporary china is welcome. If you do your speech in chinese, please send an english translation along! We encourage you to do your statement in chinese, as the documentary will include chinese, english and german language. Please send RAW FOOTAGE only, we will edit it into the documentary.
